MOVERS&SHAKERS SEALED UNIT MANUFACTURER RECRUITS The Glass Systems Group, the UK’s largest independent sealed unit manufacturer, has appointed George Stirling, a man with almost 40 years’ experience in the glass and building products industry. Beginning his career with Pilkington Glass in the 1970’s, George has held a number of senior sales and marketing positions, both flat glass manufacture and sealed unit production, and will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Glass Systems Group. Group Managing Director Alan Atkinson comments: “When personnel the calibre of George wants to work for us, it shows how far we have come as a company. There are probably few people in our industry with George’s experience and we welcome him to our organisation.” Alan continues: “The market has changed dramatically over recent years, with changes in legislation and standards. George can be contacted on 07975 976789, [email protected] MAJOR RECRUITMENT DRIVE TO SERVICE BOOMING ORDERS Northern Ireland based manufacturer, Apeer doors, is set to take on an additional 40 to 60 new staff over the next six months to meet booming orders for its new MODO collection. First on board in the major recruitment drive, which will cover all levels and all areas of the business, are regional sales manager Nigel Evans and IT programmer Joanne Higgins. Nigel has worked in the doors and windows sector since 1977 and his extensive experience includes a spell in the insulation industry. After starting as a salesman for a major window company he moved in to selling window profiles and more recently worked in windows hardware. Based at Bromley in Kent, Nigel will work as Apeer’s south-east regional sales manager. Joanne Higgins joins the Apeer head office team in Ballymena with five years’ experience as an IT programmer. She said: “IT and technology has progressed dramatically over the last few years. Apeer is investing in such technologies which makes it an exciting and interesting place to work.” Apeer has also appointed two new production managers along with a number of supervisors and factory floor operatives.
