INDUSTRYNEWS VEKA Recycling acquires second facility Plastics recycling firm VEKA Recycling recently expanded its operations with the acquisition of Trafford Services (Midlands) Ltd for an undisclosed sum. The firm took ownership of Trafford Services’ Bilston site in the West Midlands earlier this month, and will use the facility to compact PVC window frame material before sending it in 24 tonne loads to Kent where it is reprocessed. Acquisition of the site adds an extra 20,000 square feet of weighbridge, processing and storage facilities to VEKA’s portfolio. Tony Cattini, managing director of VEKA Recycling, explained the benefits that the second facility would bring to the company. He said: “Having this second centrally-located site means that local installers, fabricators and waste management companies can benefit from our reliable service with prompt payment for waste PVC frames. “Trafford Services has worked closely with us since 2007, so the company is already familiar with our focus on getting the infeed quality right and reducing contamination. This is vital in maintaining the high quality of our 100% recycled PVC-U pellet and micronised PVC-U (pulver).” The move follows the reycling firm’s successful acquisition of Trafford Services (Midlands) Ltd, the culmination of ‘yearlong’ negotiations and ‘lessons learnt’ from a collection pilot scheme rolled out in Barnsley last year. Trafford Services (Midlands) Ltd, which was set up three years ago by managing director Ken Higgins, will continue to be run by his son Brad under VEKA Recycling’s ownership. Meanwhile, Mr Higgins’ sister company, Trafford Services Ltd in Manchester, remains privately-owned. Mr Cattini added: “Having restructured our business and launched our pellet sales, now’s the right time for this strategic acquisition. It’s also great news for environmental sustainability; with our VEKA model here in the Midlands we will be ensuring more waste PVC frames will be diverted from landfill for recycling back into new windows and other PVC-U products.” IT’S RAPID! 10 HOURS TO REMOVE THE EXISTING ROOF AND THEN REPLACE WITH LIVIN ROOF, INCLUDING PLASTER BOARDING, BASED ON A TEAM OF TWO. 10 HOURS TO REMOVE EXISTING AND REPLACE THROUGH TO PLASTERBOARD │ FAMILIAR SYSTEM - CLASSIC ROOF │ COMPLY WITH BUILDING REGULATIONS - NO RISKS │ VAULTED CEILING, INTEGRATED GLASS PANELS - NO EXTRA COSTS │ 70% OF CONSUMERS PREFER TO SIMULATED TILES ROOF www.clearview-uk.com To read more, visit www.clearview-uk.com Call Ultraframe on 0843 208 6941 or visit www.ultraframe.co.uk/livinroof for more information.
