DOORS&WINDOWS ORIGIN GROWS UK MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS WITH NEW FACTORY Origin Frames Ltd, award-winning UK manufacturer of bi-folding doors, has opened a new production facility at its headquarters in Buckinghamshire as part of the company’s huge expansion plans. The factory opening follows the introduction of Origin’s industry leading ‘Your Lead Time, Not Ours’ service in 2011, which eliminates lead times on its bespoke aluminium bi-folding doors. The new 18,000 sq ft x 40,000 sq ft factory will support Origin’s new flow line manufacturing process, introduced in 2013 as the company moves towards lean manufacturing; while helping to maintain a 100 per cent record for delivery of its ‘YLTNO’ service. In early 2013, Origin introduced a new flow line system, giving each factory worker a defined role in the production process. The primary aim of the new system was to streamline work and improve efficiency levels by breaking down each task. The new production facility will facilitate the flow line production process, which has already allowed the business to double its capacity in the last 12 months, while acting as the main manufacturing hub for its Dubai and US counterparts. 48 APR 2014 The new production facility has meant Origin has also invested in new machinery and factory resource at its headquarters in High Wycombe. Origin hopes the new factory will become a centre of manufacturing excellence within the UK. Neil Ginger, CEO at Origin, said: “UK manufacturing looks set to be on the rise, and we have found the demand for products carrying the ‘Made in Britain’ badge has never been stronger. “By investing in the new production facility we hope to uphold our record for constantly delivering to customer lead times as part of our strategy for growth in the year ahead.” ACHIEVING ISO 9001 ACCREDITATION In the last 12 months, Origin has been sho rtlisted for the National Business Awards and has been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001 certification for excelling in its operations. The globally recognised accreditation is achieved only by businesses that meet the highest management standards and is a stamp of exemplary product and service quality within the industry. Neil said: “By achieving ISO 9001 certification, our customers know that the highest standards of customer care are, and will continue to be, our priority. ‘Fitter fitter’ training’ “In demonstration of this, we offer a 20 year guarantee on our Origin Bifold system and work to a ‘your lead time not ours’ philosophy that allows customers to decide when they want their bespoke doors delivered, eradicating lead times. We are very proud to have a 100 per cent record of delivering on time to our customers,” Neil added. To support further its service to its trade partners and improve the quality of service to end users, Origin also recently introduced its ‘Fitter Fitter’ installation training programme. This benefits installers by demonstrating the most efficient and technically accurate way to install Origin’s bifolding doors - attendees receiving Origin accreditation. The full day course, free to Origin’s trade agents, is designed to cover all elements of bi-folding door and blind installation and gives installers the chance to ask questions directly to Origin’s technical team. It includes a demonstration of how to install a basic three doors set on a dedicated training rig, full product information and troubleshooting on service issues such as fork, hinge and lock replacement. ‘A great result’ David Ginger, Technical Manager at Origin, comments: “Since launching the Fitter Fitter training in late 2013, we have already seen a 23 per cent reduction in technical installation queries, which is a great result.” Origin will be exhibiting at the FiT Show for the very first time in 2014, showcasing its multi award winning aluminium bi-fold doors and tailor-made electric blind system. www.origin-global.com, www. originbifolds.com To read more, visit www.clearview-uk.com
