For 37 years CROYA has been serving young adults ( in grades 7-12 ) of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff . CROYA successfully uses a group-process model where students are encouraged to develop , run , and evaluate their own programs . Together with specially trained staff , youth run more than 300 annual programs and meetings around themes like leadership , community service , emotional wellness , music , and social events . CROYA continues to provide counseling services in the CROYA Student Union facility through public-private partnerships with the Chicago Integrative Center for Psychiatry , and the Child , Adolescent and Family Recovery Center . Family Service in Highland Park provides counseling services for youth and families through the GROW ( Guidance , Resources , Outreach & Wellness ) program , which offers a limited amount of fee-free services for need-based clients .
Visit CROYA ’ s recording studio , main-stage , DJ booth , multiple lounges , student store , and dance studio . There are no memberships in order to participate in CROYA programs ! ACTIVATOR MU- SIC ACADEMY offers private and group lessons in drums , bass , guitar , voice , piano , and strings . Students have the opportunity to collaborate on live performances , recording studio projects and open mic jams on the Student Union stage . Stop in for a tour of beautiful Dickinson Hall , pick up a membership application and meet the welcoming staff and friendly members ! Explore insightful lectures , educational opportunities , creative outlets , fitness classes and excursions to suit every taste and schedule .
Dickinson Hall has some wonderful parties lined up for members and guests to enjoy . On February 28 , join us at noon for a fabulous Mardi Gras luncheon with New Orleans style food , plenty of beads and an authentic Dixieland band ! On March 15 we will visit the School of St . Mary for their annual “ Luck of the Irish ” luncheon with bingo and lots of prizes . Try something different on April 6 when the King ( Elvis that is ) visits Dickinson Hall for a lunch of southern comfort food and music of the 50s and 60s . Dig out your blue suede shoes and join us for a rockin ’ good time ! Also in April we host our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon to show our appreciation of the many wonderful volunteers we have here at Dickinson Hall in celebration of friendship and sense of community . Our entertainment is provided by the immensely entertaining Hummers and Strummers 30-piece ukulele band with their show “ Let ’ s Go to the Movies .” The Lake Forest Country Day School visits Dickinson Hall on April 27 with a concert featuring an exciting repertoire performed by 110 very enthusiastic middle school students . Summer will nearly be here when we welcome back the amazing ragtime piano and vocal talent of Chicago-born musician Reginald Robinson . Enjoy an evening of wine , hors d ’ oeuvres and music .
Additionally , Janet Fryer , Senior Advocate , is available Monday – Friday to support older adults in the community . There is no charge for her services . Janet can be reached directly at 847.810.4678 .
If you ’ re no longer driving eligible residents may request transportation from the Senior Car program . Friendly , professional drivers are available weekdays from 8:45 a . m . -3 p . m . for appointments , errands and visits to Dickinson Hall .
