You can stroll the fabled streets of Cannery Row, and
quite possibly run out of room on your phone with all the
amazing photo opportunities.I checked into The Spindrift Inn in Cannery Row. My room had a woodburning
fireplace, ready to be lit, and windows that opened up to
a view of the seaside. It took the w ords right out of my
mouth. With the sound of the waves and the beautiful
view, it is definitely an experience to share with someone
special. Imagine a bottle of wine, a quiet night in and
a wonderful breakfast delivered to the room on a silver
platter. Not so bad right? A walk down Cannery Row
is perfect for romance. Being close to the water offers a
sense of peace, and the beach showcases the picturesque
California coast. I’ve even been told that at the right time
of year you can see migrating whales. I suggest heading to
A Taste of Monterey Wine Market and Bistro for a perfect
lunch experience. With panoramic views of Monterey
Bay out to the Pacific Ocean, this is a place you definitely
want to stop in for a glass of wine, with a fully charged
camera. You’ll find tastings on offer for over 95 local
wineries, local craft beers and wine country cuisine. Make
dinner reservations at The Sardine Factory, Monterey’s top
restaurant, for an unforgettable dining experience. This
place has been open since 1968, and for good reason – it
is filled with playful food theatre, delicious wines, and a
plethora of rooms to explore. It captures the essence of
the area. The lounge features live music and an incredible
wine cellar. Be sure to order the sorbet, which is displayed
on a large swan made of ice. Monterey was named as
one of the world’s “Top Ten Wine Travel Destinations”
in 2013 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Clint Eastwood,
American actor, director, and producer, calls Monterey
home.Wine country in Monterey is up and coming, and
it is definitely a place to keep on your radar. I had the
chance to visit Hahn Vineyards and take an ATV ride to
the top of the vineyards – this can be done by anyone and
is a must-do wine adventure. This vineyard truly touched
my heart, with beautiful Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
among other quality wines they are producing. There are
10 distinct wine appellations in Monterey County but the
view from Hahn Vineyards is one in a million.
