There are 48 exclusively designed freestanding lodges with a separate bedroom and living room area. Each section of the lodge was handcrafted and helicoptered in as to not disturb the surrounding trees and creek that flows through the property. Each lodge features an indoor and outdoor fireplace and sun deck, but make sure to reserve a lodge with a private outdoor hot tub, it is the perfect romantic touch to your stay. Their Spa has also won numerous awards for it’s top quality service and state-of-the-art facilities. Calistoga is famous for it’s mineral-rich mud, which is incorporated in their signature spa treatment, “The Calistoga Cure”. The hotel also boasts a wine cave for tastings and private events; it’s own vineyard, and miles of hiking trails, which have been known to be frequented by Lady Gaga. Unlike most hotels, their fine-dining restaurant, The Lakehouse, is for hotel-guests only. Which means no pesky outsiders or annoying tourists interrupting your dining experience or view of Lake Lommel. To celebrate the rich culture of food and wine from the Napa Valley, organic and locally sourced food are the centerpiece of the menu. Head chef Bryan Moscatello tries to achieve complex dishes with few ingredients using an on-site garden, luxury chicken coop, and beehive. Moscatello is hailed as a culinary artist. There is a rotating four-course prix fixe menu but be sure to add on the wine pairing with each course, which is tailored to your palette. The chef ’s Seasonal Fig Tart, Peach and Prosciutto Salad, and Superior Farms Lamb Loin are this season’s stand out dishes. Moscatello is also adding a wood-burning pizza oven to the kitchen, so look for some menu changes coming early 2016.
