Originally built on a hill-shaped islet that was then connected to the mainland in the mid 1400s, its rustic beauty is characterised by the narrow, winding streets of the Med amid ancient sandstone buildings and walls. The old town expands modestly to a gentle, relaxed beach town with bayside bars and restaurants overlooking the main stretch of beach. Primošten is most well known for its ancient vineyards that have taken hard labour to cultivate and nurture. In fact, a photograph of workers in a vineyard of Primošten is on display at the UN Headquarters in New York as an example of the fruits of hard work.
