SANTA FEST PARADE Santa Claus is coming to town, more specifically to Major Mackenzie Drive! On Nov. 27, residents and visitors will line the street in their warmest clothes to watch the floats pass and welcome the arrival of Old Saint Nick. DECEMBER CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY Join the City of Vaughan in kicking off the holiday season with festive music, holiday treats, a visit by Santa Claus and the lighting of the Christmas Tree! MENORAH LIGHTING CEREMONY Joyous Hanukkah songs will be heard during the lighting of the Menorah. Join the Mayor and Council members as they welcome the festive season in Vaughan. JANUARY CHINESE NEW YEAR It’s the Year of the Rooster! You are invited to enjoy colourful cultural performances, activities and refreshments in celebration of Chinese New Year! MARCH MAY (Jewish Heritage Month) OPERA YORK Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro takes to the stage of Opera York Region. Catch the exquisite performance only two days in early March. EARTH HOUR AT CITY HALL Be part of the change by attending Earth Hour at City Hall. An outdoor lantern walk, activities, live entertainment, refreshments and an awards ceremony are all on the agenda for an exciting evening. APRIL 20 - MINUTE MAKEOVER Everybody, everywhere, it’s time to clean up! In honour of Earth Day, take 20-minutes out of your day to do your part in keeping Vaughan litter-free. EARTH DAY 2017 Join the environmental movement with the rest of the world and celebrate our Earth. Plant trees, invest in renewable energy or even spread the word. VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION AWARDS CEREMONY Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council will recognize the actions and efforts of volunteers at an official ceremony held at City Hall during National Volunteer Week, April 23 - 29. HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY Also known as Yom HaShoah, this Memorial Day is a world-wide commemoration of the millions of Jewish victims of the Holocaust. VAUGHAN FILM FESTIVAL GALA The Gala is the final event in a fourday festival recognizing both local and international filmmakers. Attended by entertainment industry professionals, the grand finale gala event provides an opportunity to celebrate film and the arts. JUNE (Italian Heritage Month) CONCERTS IN THE PARK LAUNCH The City of Vaughan's 23rd annual Concerts in the Park series featuring FREE professional concerts is held on select Wednesday evenings from June to August at 7:30 p.m. JULY CANADA DAY Oh Canada! In 2017, the country will celebrate its 150th birthday. The event in Vaughan is guaranteed to be a memorable one. VAUGHAN PIZZA FEST After its inaugural event in 2015, Vaughan Pizza Fest is destined to be a popular event. Featuring slices from ovens in the area, you can expect this celebration to include pizza, pizza and more pizza! AUGUST BENJAMIN VAUGHAN DAY (CIVIC HOLIDAY) In December 2013, Vaughan Council chose to dedicate the Civic Holiday to Benjamin Vaughan, the British diplomat for whom our City is named. On this date, many City buildings and services are closed. WOODBRIDGE RIBFEST 2017 Great food, great music, rides, games and more at RibFest.
