One of the most significant
and exciting aspects of
Vaughan’s transformation is
the development of a new
urban core, our City’s new
downtown, the Vaughan
Metropolitan Centre (VMC).

Great change continues to take place in
the VMC. The first two residential towers
of Expo City are complete and people
are moving in. Additional development is
underway to accommodate more residents
and the area continues to generate interest.
The KPMG building, the first office
tower in the VMC, will officially open
this year. As of 2016, 450,000 square
feet of office space is planned or under
construction in the VMC. Earlier this year,
a 265,000-square-foot SmartReit project
that includes a state-of-the-art YMCA,
City of Vaughan public library and recreation
space was announced for the area. The
building is anticipated to open in 2019.
