Online Instructor and online course. Best-practice shows this is helpful before teaching an online course. Developer Certification – Going Strong! In 2012, the Online Instructor Certification received Quality Matters Certification for meeting all of the standards of the Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) Rubric. The course was one of three that met the standards during the CPE pilot phase, helping Quality Matters develop the CPE rubric. https://www.qualitymatters.org/ continuing-and-professional-education-rubric-program Jennifer Campbell & Lynnda Brown, Instructional Designers Distance Learning and Academic Technology Distance Learning and Academic Technology celebrates with all of you who have completed the Online Instructor and Online Developer Certifications. Since the first sessions were offered in the spring of 2007, almost 800 Tulsa Community College faculty and staff have completed one or both of the certifications. This number includes the 57 participants who are currently enrolled in Online Instructor Certification as well as the 731 people who have participated in prior Online Instructor Certification and Online Developer Certification workshops. Many participants take part in the Online Instructor workshop to learn about the technical tools with no immediate intentions of teaching an online or blended course. Full and part-time faculty participate in both workshops to become certified to teach and/or develop online or blended courses, or to learn more about the technical resources available at the College. Administrators take certification to gain a better understanding of processes. Staff, who support faculty and students, take the Online Instructor Certification workshop so that they can learn more about the systems they support. For some participants, the workshops are the Course Name first experience as a student in an Participant evaluations have been overwhelmingly positive. Nearly all participants in both workshops agreed or strongly agreed that the workshops meet the primary objectives. In the Online Instructor Certification, 97% of the 480 survey participants agreed or strongly agreed that, the workshop was helpful in understanding the online learning environment. Even more telling is that 95 % of participants who either agreed or strongly agreed that the workshop should be a requirement before they are allowed to teach an online class at TCC. In the self-paced version of Online Developer Certification, 92% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that the workshop was helpful in understanding best-practices of sound online course design. Tulsa Community College faculty find support not only from the Distance Learning and Academic Technology department, but from numerously committed staff who have taken the time to learn about online courses and the technical tools used in classes at the College. Faculty mentoring faculty is evident and an essential means of support. The DLAT faculty and staff appreciate the active support for the certifications and value our relationships with you. We thank you for making this training so successful.
