Jenny and I were selected for the 2nd year in a row to present at the national conference for the professional organization we belong to (ACPA). Last year we spoke on assessing career workshops without using surveys, and this year we are presenting on developing intentional professional development plans! My advice to students is that when things start getting tough, don't give up - reach out! MEM is a strong "family" with staff who are here to support you in your classes, career search, or even finding your place at Duke. Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you're feeling overwhelmed.

Career Services is currently writing articles to be submitted to a national peer-reviewed journal and a national campus publication about assessment efforts in Career Services and intentionality regarding professional development. I know when exams are over that you are tired and probably the last thing you want to do is talk about your job/internship search but I encourage you to look at your holiday/the month of December as an opportunity. Your Career Coaches are here working during most of the holiday and have many available appointments. Take advantage of this time when you aren't distracted by classes to customize your job/internship search. One of the biggest mistakes students make is putting off their job/internship search--start today!
