Duke MEMP

7

As the year comes to a close, I'd encourage all MEMers to pause and reflect on your accomplishments as well as the things that may remain undone. The start of the New Year brings a great opportunity to refocus on our dreams and goals. Best wishes for success to those who will graduate in December. I hope that 2013 brings continued growth and enriching experiences for everyone!

I've always enjoyed working on college campuses and I'm so excited to be here at Duke in the MEM Program! While I love the college environment and working with students, there is one thing that terrifies me about them… Mascots!! For some reason I find them extremely terrifying. I used to work at UNC-Chapel Hill and I hated running into Ramses at events. I have yet to meet the Blue Devil and I'm actively avoiding places he might go!

very year there is always a student or two who I can count on seeing when I go into the suite to get hot water for my morning tea. This past term one of my morning regulars has been Ásbjörn Jónsson. Our conversations are brief, but always very pleasant. I love learning little things about Iceland or his family or what he’s been up to. I’m always delighted to get to know students in less official capacity. Feel free to stop by my office for a talk or just hang out in the suite and eventually I’ll be in for some hot water and a quick chat.
