Cycling events in Pietermaritzburg
Pietermaritzburg hosts an impressive list of cycling events . In 2017 the city looks forward to the KZN Summer Classic ( two UCI 1.2 men-only road races ), and in August 2017 around 1000 internationals — made up of athletes , crew and supporters from approximately 50 nations — will descend on the city for 10 days for the UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships . Aside from the income this brings for the city , these and other events of this nature present the city with a great opportunity to market itself and represent business opportunities for businesses wanting to forge international links , says Alec Lenferna , director of Real Events Management and the coordinator of many cycling events in the city .
