JPEC Keeping Jazz & Music Education Alive in Toronto
The Jazz Performance and Education Centre ( JPEC ) is a non-profit organization that presents concerts and events related to jazz along with an outreach program for schools in underserviced areas of Toronto . It arranges and pays for musicians to present workshops in the schools with approximately 50 events per year . Started in 2008 , JPEC brings together business people , musicians , and arts professionals in order to keep Toronto ’ s jazz community vibrant and also bring music education to under-served students .

CMW Brings Back Mastering of a Music City Summit & More
Canadian Music Week will once again be taking over downtown Toronto from April 18-23 , 2017 . In addition to the three-day Music Summit , CMW organizers have announced the return of the one-day Mastering of a Music City Summit , which will be held Friday , April 21 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel . The event will explore the relationship between creative city planning , quality-of-life , and the music industry in depth .
The three-day Music Summit , running April 19-21 , will be split into three programming streams looking at social music , live touring , and songwriters and publishers . It will include keynote addresses , celebrity interviews , breakout sessions , and workshops . Keynote speakers will include former Sony Music Canada President and industry pioneer Denise Donlon and Virtuosity CEO Scott Ross .
This year ’ s CMW Festival headliners are Earl Sweatshirt , Wolf Parade , Melissa Etheridge , and Good Charlotte .
