Winning A SEAT IN THE FRONT ROW
Design competition winners from Cumnock Academy have seen their
idea for Ayrshire College’s new campus brought to life.The group paid
a visit to manufacturers, Character Joinery, in Kilmarnock, to see a halfscale model of their modern seating area that won the ‘Interaction 2’
East Ayrshire school enterprise challenge.
The competition was
run by Keppie Design
in partnership with East
Ayrshire Council and
Ayrshire College. It
challenged pupils to design
an inspirational, flexible
and open learning space
to be housed on the top
floor of the new campus
in Kilmarnock.

The winning team - Cumnock Academy’s Billie-Jean Findleton,
Craig Laird, Luke McBlain, Aiden McGregor and Douglas Robertson were praised for showing their attention to detail in lighting, acoustics
and furnishings, while also considering practicality.
