How are your apprentices getting
on? Our current apprentices are
doing really well. They are working
on a range of projects in Ayrshire Irvine Town Hall, Saltcoats Town Hall,
McCarthy and Stone retirement flats
in Alloway, and Ayrshire College.
Do you feel their time at College
equipped them with the right skills
for their current roles?
Yes. They have been able to transfer
painting and decorating skills gained
at college into their day to day roles.
Can you tell me about your
recruitment process?
We recruit locally though the
jobcentres and local advertisements.
Recruitment of apprentices also
involves encouraging young people
from local schools and the college
to apply. We are often given
recommendations from Painting
and Decorating lecturers at Ayrshire
College of young people showing
good potential.
What are your future plans
regarding training of young people
in Ayrshire?
We will continue to work in
partnership with Ayrshire College
and the Construction Industry
Training Board to train our
apprentices. We like to support
our local community by providing
training opportunites for
young people.
