hard though to only use those ideas as
starting points and make sure I create
a unique point of difference between
a party I style and the next. Styling
an on-trend party isn’t hard. Making it
stand out from the rest is, and this is
something I am definitely still trying to
learn.
What are the top 5 things that should
be considered when planning a styled
party or celebration?
Venue: Can everyone fit? Is there
enough room for table set ups/
activities planned? Is there easy
access to transport everything
needed?
From when you’re assigned an event,
how do you go about collecting ideas
and planning it?
Lighting: For myself I have to make
sure that the location of the event
has great lighting. I absolutely love
photographing my children’s parties
and special family events and am not
the greatest photographer so I need all
the help I can get.
My first stop is always Pinterest! I
usually have a theme/quote/colour
scheme in mind and go about
collecting images of artworks, patterns
and other event set ups. I end up with
a lot more ideas than one could ever
use in a single event, but as I start to
make decisions about what I am going
to do, I scrap the rest.
There is so much inspiration floating
around out there in the world. What tips
to you have for controlling styling so
that the end product doesn’t become a
