Women's Preliminary Round

Switzerland vs Canada 1:10

Canada won Switzerland 10-1 on Monday in another Olympic Games women's hockey rout.

After crashing Slovakia 18-0 in their opening game to set a new Games record, the Canadians were 2-0 ahead by the end of the first period with Gillian Apps and Sarah Vaillancourt on target.

Meghan Agosta then accounted for two of Canada's three second-period goals. Catharine Ward and Marie-Philip Poulin added two more in the space of 19 seconds with Rebecca Johnston and Wickenheiser also on target.

Florence Schelling was then pulled from the Swiss goal to be replaced by Dominque Slongo. Together, they faced a barrage of 62 shots on goal.

"We played fine, we didn't battle as hard as we could. Our job was to win the hockey game and we did," said Canada coach Melody Davidson, who also defended her team in the wake of the demolition of Slovakia.
