the dream is realized

Opening of Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park at Assembly Row
When Copley Wolff Design Group set out to redesign the waterfront park , the goal was to design a park for the community and to assist with the ongoing efforts and goals outlined in DCR ’ s 2009 Mystic River Master Plan .
The 6.1-acre Baxter Park has come to serve as a popular gathering location with large open green spaces , an overlook at the water ’ s edge , a riverfront amphitheater , walking and biking paths , a children ’ s playground , and large steel monumental arches which are a nod to the site ’ s industrial history .
The design has proven to be a major success for the overall Assembly Row project by providing thoughtfullydesigned space for activities including yoga , music concerts , movies , craft fairs , and boating – restoring important riverfront access to the public .
“ Baxter State Park provides visitors with one-of-a-kind views of the Mystic River , and will quickly become a prized community asset that will be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities .”
Jack Murray , Former DCR Commissioner
