This commitment has allowed them to sustain the relevance of the firm over its 26-year history as it continues to challenge the conventional boundaries of landscape architecture . James Burnett , FASLA , founded the firm in 1989 in Houston with one part-time employee , and although the first projects were modest , they were thoughtful and artfully composed , which quickly established OJB as a leader in the field of landscape architecture . The firm now employs 45 professionals and has garnered more than 80 state and national design awards for projects consistently cited for innovation and design excellence .
What makes this firm unique is their ability to reside in three different geographical locations , but collaborate closesly on all projects as a team .
