Clyde Street Residence Brookline , Massachusetts
This project involves the construction of a new residence , gym building , pool house , and associated landscape on a property in Chestnut Hill , MA . The owners requested a sophisticated and modern landscape with a large play lawn for athletic use , a pool area , kitchen garden , and terraces for entertaining . The existing site was wrapped by a canopy of evergreens and declining understory , and was restored to fit the surroundings . The project is a successful example of the insertion of a modern design into a natural , wooded , suburban context , blending contemporary forms within an existing tree canopy , meadow and streetscape in a landscape offering strolling opportunities and a fitting setting for a beautiful modern home . Conceived in close collaboration with the owner and architects , the landscape has become a successful retreat from the city for the owner and an admired venue for large , upscale fundraising events . photo | Rosemary Fletcher Photography
