Park & Community Garden Picnic & Park Permits for Summer 2017 Larry Fink Memorial Park Groups of 12 or more wishing to use park grounds or picnic areas are required to secure a permit prior to their visit. There is designated group picnicking in Danny Cunniff, Larry Fink Memorial, Rosewood and Sunset Woods Parks. Sunset Woods Park has two open-sided pavilions available for groups of up to 100. Danny Cunniff Park has a pavilion for groups of 50 or less. The District Park Ranger and City police patrol and check for valid permit holders. Reservations are now open. 1377 Deer Creek Parkway This 71-acre park offers shade trees by the pond, open fields for active play and many other recreational activities. Registration Information & Fees Memorial Park Gazebo Surrounded by shade trees and a fishing pond, this cozy spot offers views of the park and is adjacent to a fitness path, two play areas, tennis courts, and washroom facilities. Registration must be done in-person at West Ridge Center, 636 Ridge Road, at least 10 days prior to the picnic date to secure a permit. 405 Prospect This grassy triangular park is a popular summer gathering place and honors Highland Park’s World War I heroes. Registration hours: Mon - Thur 8:30am-6:30pm. Fri 8:30am – 5pm. Sat, 9am-Noon. 12-59 individuals | $40/65 60-99 individuals | $50/85 100+ individuals | $70/120 *Daily damage deposit is $50. There is an additional fee for rental of the pavilions at Danny Cunniff and Sunset Woods Parks and for ball fields if available. Corporate and not-for-profit fees vary. Parking restrictions/limits, park district programs/ events, and type of use are taken into consideration for permit approvals. Bob Robinson Memorial Bandstand The bandstand pays tribute to Robert G. Robinson, fir st president of the Highland Park Historical Society and curator of its museum. This turn-of-the-century style gazebo is perfect for weddings and other social occasions. North Pavilion The open-air pavilion is near many of the park amenities including disk golf course, fishing pond, baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, and playground areas. The Pavilion is not available while summer camps are in session. 86 Sunset Woods Park 1801 Sunset Road Situated on 38 acres, this site is graced with oak and maple trees, providing a lovely backdrop for your next gathering. North Pavilion Offers a covered picnic area, wood deck with arbor, an outdoor grill, washrooms, and a kitchen, all in a tranquil setting. The North Pavilion is not available during Summer Day Camp session from Jun-Aug. Large Pavilion Located in the central section of Sunset Woods Park and is the largest open-air Pavilion in the district. There are four grills and washrooms nearby. Great for a large group. Small Pavilion Situated near four play areas, a skate park, basketball court, two ball fields and washroom facilities. Community Garden Beds If you would like to harvest your own vegetables but do not have a yard, the Park District is offering raised bed garden beds available for rent! These 4’ x 8’ beds (or 3’ x 6’ ADA accessible beds) are located at West Ridge Center. Assigned beds will be available for planting on Apr 15, weather permitting. The water source/hose is adjacent to the plots; organic gardening only - pesticides and chemical fertilizer use is prohibited. All participants must abide by user guidelines as well as regularly maintain their plot and supply their own planting materials/ tools. In-person registration at West Ridge Center.
