General Information
Age Requirements
When choosing a camp for your child , please use the grade that your child will be entering in Fall 2017 . Campers in preschool programs must be of age by the first day of camp . Five year olds must be entering Grade K in 2017 . Proof of age may be required .
Staff Supervision
Each camp is supervised by a qualified adult director . Some camps , depending on size , have an assistant director . Each camp ’ s high school or college counselors are chosen carefully by the Park District for their demonstration of maturity and enthusiasm . Camp staff members complete an extensive training program , which includes supervision and safety techniques , activity development and first aid . Camp staff-to-camper ratios are provided found in the individual camp information .
Parent Manuals
Parent camp manuals are mailed at the end of May for camps beginning in June . The manual contains important and useful information about camp , including lunch , field trips , swimming activities , camp clothes , hours , busing schedules , and more . The manual also includes an emergency form that should be completed and turned in on the first day of camp . See more information about this form below .
Health & Safety
Emergency Form
The Park District does not require children to have a medical examination to attend camp , but it ’ s important to accurately complete the emergency form that is included in your parent manual . If you have non-medical information regarding your child ( i . e . phobias , social issues ) that you wish our staff to know , please note this on your emergency form . If your child has a serious medical need , please call the camp supervisor listed under each camp upon registration .
Camp Nurse
The registered camp nurse is accessible to staff during camp hours by cell phone . The nurse reviews all emergency forms , medical forms and accident reports ; assists in medical care and camper well-being .
Water Safety
To ensure the safety of our campers , the Park District enforces water safety procedures at Hidden Creek AquaPark and at all other swimming related field trip locations . ( See page 2 .)
