OpTIC Technology Centre project supports entrepreneurs under the Space Growth Action Plan

Wrexham Glyndwr University ’ s OpTIC Technology Centre presented a successful bid in response to the UK Space Agency ’ s Innovation and Growth Strategy : Space Growth Action Plan call . Director Caroline Gray tells us how the resulting project provides a supportive commercial environment that helps entrepreneurs to grow and develop small companies .

How did you find the bid process and what do you believe were the criteria you met that made that bid successful ? The process was very straightforward and clear . Along the lines of typical bids we put an initial bid forward and were invited to continue from there . As an existing and operating Technology Centre , with experience of running and operating services for specific technologies , we felt we were suited to that particular call , that the project complemented current business , and that we could add to the UK Space Agency ' s ambitions , assisting third parties in selling technologies into the space sector .
What was your overall vision for the new environment for entrepreneurs and how it will integrate into Glyndwr Innovations ? The ambition is to grow our centre ’ s activities across different sectors .
