Tauranga is no longer a hospital trained Nursing centre, it is a provider of training for both tech trained Nurses and placements for our young developing medical professionals, e.g. Doctors, Radiology Students, Speech & Language etc. The buildings are one by one being replaced with state of the art resources. Tauranga has changed from a retirement centre to a desirable place to live and bring up families. Our population is one of the biggest changes I have personally witnessed. Same great place, more people just know about it. Phil Church, Registered Nurse, Community Mental Health (20 yrs). Lesley Watkins, Portfolio Manager, Mental Health & Addictions, Planning & Funding (25 yrs). The highlight of my 20 years with the BOPDHB has been making friends and working with dedicated, kind and knowledgeable colleagues. I have been privileged to work mostly in D/N and OPD, both where I found supportive and friendly staff members, always willing to pass on knowledge and assist in any situation. People are definitely the most important asset an organisation can have and good people make a great organisation. Julie Williams, Hospital Co-ordinator (30 yrs). Cheryl Thompson, Administration Coordinator, Community Mental Health (40 yrs). 5
