New Health and
Safety at Work Act
2015

The Health and Safety in Work Act 2015 was
approved by Parliament in September last
year and will come into effect on 4 April 2016.
To ensure the BOPDHB is compliant with the Act, the Employee
Health and Safety team is doing the following.
•
Co-ordinating the review and amendment of health and
safety policies and protocols to reflect the new legislated
requirements as they affect the BOPDHB.
•
Providing or arranging any necessary training for the
executive team, managers and our employee health and
safety representatives to ensure all changes are well
understood and effectively implemented. The required
health and safety training has been arranged for employee
health and safety representatives for March and April.
The online health and safety training programmes on the
Midlands training website will also be updated for managers
and employees. This will be available from 4 April 2016.
•
Co-ordinating consultation with the unions, employee health
and safety representatives and managers on the Employee
Health and Safety Participation and Engagement protocol.
Reviewing and amending this protocol based on feedback
from the consultation process and preparing it for final signoff.

Arranging for a suitable provider to conduct a legal
compliance audit of the BOPDHB’s amended health and
