In another key note , Dr Patrick Vallance , President R & D , GSK , UK spoke on innovation and deliberated on the need of openness to drive Innovation in healthcare . However , he stressed that a systematic way of making that information available to all is also necessary .
The day also witnessed panel discussions on Make in India – The power of manufacturing clusters which discussed about the Government initiatives to promote pharmaceutical manufacturing Infrastructure and the incentives & advantages offered by the manufacturing clusters . Another , insightful session was held on Funding the next wave of digital healthcare startups which deliberated on the current investment focus within healthcare and major drivers for investments alongwith opportunities for emerging players & startups . A Special session on the GST ( Goods and Services tax ) deliberated on how GST will affect the Life Sciences after its implementation .
The Startup Showcase during the last day of BioAsia 2017 included 5 select Startups which presented their products and services in the field of Healthcare to the delegates . These startups included Onward Health , Lattice Innovations , Bull ’ s Eye , Uber Diagnostic and ATS Ambulance Tracking System .
Projects announced at BioAsia 2017
• An MoU also being executed with Cerestra to explore a Life Sciences Infrastructure Fund to the tune of INR 1000 Crores to create sophisticated modular plug-andplay infrastructure for pharma / biotech / medical devices industry . This will be the first of its kind fund in the country for creation of specialized infrastructure for the life sciences industry .
• Inauguration of MN Park ’ s iHub Phase II initiative with 2 million Square feet of
Lab Space for R & D companies and startups at an investment of about INR 1000 crores
• Allotment letters for about 6 companies are being given today with a cumulative investment of 702 Crores
• Unveiling of building plans of Country ’ s largest animal resource facility to be set up by Government of India in partnership with Government of Telangana with a Central Government grant of INR 330 Crores and 102 acres of land from State Government
• Ground breaking of Biological E ’ s SEZ Campus in Genome Valley with an investment of INR 300 Crores and creating direct and indirect employment for about 1,000 people
• Inauguration of SME Hub @ IKP in Genome Valley with 50,000 square feet incubation facility for Life Sciences SMEs at an investment of INR 50 Crores
