editor’s note Technology holds the key to future… I am sure most of us were all ears to the Prime Minister’s radio talk ‘Mann ki Baat’ this time as he spoke elaborately on the issues concerning bioscience landscape. Be it the antibiotic resistance, innovation and the need to promote innovative startups, he raised the important points which would surely add seriousness. Mr Modi in particular referred to the technology as the door to future and asked people to adopt it to see the change. The message hopefully reaches all the stakeholders and also leads to policy clarity on many controversies surrounding technologies. The government’s decision to do away with the license for export or import of biological samples has fulfilled the long pending demand of the industry. This is yet another positive step that will also be of immense benefit for research institutes and clinical laboratories as well. This edition of Biovoice in its cover story highlights the issue of recent cases of reemergence of Diphtheria in Kerala due to the anti-vaccination campaign by few groups.
