HEAD OF PATH IN INDIA
PATH has named Mr Neeraj Jain as its
country program leader for India based
in PATH’s New Delhi office.
Mr Neeraj Jain brings to PATH a broad
range of leadership and organizational
development experience in the public
and private sectors. As leader of
PATH’s India country program, Mr
Jain will oversee partnerships with
govt. officials, commercial firms, and
communities to develop and scale up
new vaccines, improve the health of
mothers and newborns through better
nutrition and safer births, and establish
a unique public-private partnership to
control tuberculosis in the crowded
slums of Mumbai.
Mr Jain’s career includes more than 27
years of extensive experience in
strengthening organizations. His
strengths lie in setting up new
ventures, organizational and market
development, and he has provided
strategic leadership for change
management in organizations across
Asia and Europe. Prior to joining
PATH, Mr Jain led WaterAid India
through a dynamic phase of transition
as its Chief Executive.

DR SHIRSHENDU MUKHERJEE JOINS
BIRAC AS MISSION DIRECTOR, GCI
The Biotechnology Industry Research
Assistance Council (BIRAC) has
appointed Dr Shirshendu Mukherjee as
Mission Director of the Programme
Management Unit of Grand Challenges
India which manages the multilateral
collaboration of the Grand Challenges
Programme of Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation; Affordable Healthcare in
India Initiative of the Wellcome Trust;
USAID and the Department of
Biotechnology, Govt of India. Trained
as Medical Microbiologist, he has
global and national exposure with more
than two decades of high level work
experience in top organizations.
Before joining BIRAC, Dr. Mukherjee has
worked with Wellcome Trust as Senior
Strategic Advisor, India, and prior to that
he was Staff Scientist at International
Centre for Genetic Engineering and
Biotechnology (ICGEB). Dr. Mukherjee,
has managed a £30 million initiative of
the Wellcome Trust for R&D in
Affordable Healthcare in India. He holds
Ph.D. in Microbiology and a Graduate
degree in Law. He has undertaken high
level academic courses such as Advance
Course in Strategy Management from
IIM Kolkata, and Management and
Leadership course from Said Business
School, University of Oxford.
ANIL MADHAV DAVE IS INDIA'S NEW
ENVIRONMENT MINISTER
Mr Anil Madhav Dave, Member of
Parliament representing Madhya
Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha since 2009,
has been allocated the Ministry of
Environment, Forest and Climate
Change (Independent Charge) by the
Prime Minister of India.
Best known as a social worker and
engaged currently with the conservation
of the Narmada river, Mr Dave has been a
member of the Committee on Water
Resources, member of the Consultative
Committee for the Ministry of
Information and Broadcasting. From
March to June 2010, he has also been a
member of the Parliamentary Forum on
Global Warming and Climate Change. At
the same time, he has been known as a
grassroot worker with a huge connect
with rural settings. His huge experience
can come handy as far as overall handling
of the ministry is concerned.
