highly equipped to provide knowledge to the young people of America usually don’t become teachers. They would rather be able to support their family with a six-figure salary. This makes sense; you want to get a job that will pay off your student debt and provide you with a comfortable lifestyle. But this leaves us with many teachers in schools who aren’t as qualified as they should be, leaving our children under-educated. It all depends on the school. There are definitely teachers out there like my father who care enough about education and the people of the future to give up the rich lifestyle they could have if they became a lawyer instead. We need these smart, passionate people to educate young people properly. They have proven they will do the job even if the salary never changes, but that doesn’t justify taking advantage of their dedication. Education shouldn’t be tied so closely with money, for it is crucial to everyone’s success. If you are lower class, it’s almost guaranteed you will receive a lesser education than someone who has lots of money, and that is not how it should be. Education should be made a priority in this country, because it’s exactly what we need. Education is the key to success. Teachers provide the future (children and young adults) with knowledge; and if they are underpaid, which they are, it’s practically guaranteed that the future isn’t being educated to its full potential, thus creating a void in what could be. Teachers are so very important to our future and our world, but they aren’t paid salaries that reflect the investment they make in our country’s future. If being a teacher paid better, higher success levels would be reached by almost everyone. Teacher salary needs to be raised and education needs to be a bigger priority in this country.
