The Trevor Project : How an Oscar Winning Short Film Inspired a Movement that Saves Young LGBTQ Lives Every Day , Reunion B Watch the movie and hear the story that started a movement . In 1994 , Oscar award-winning film " Trevor " premiered ; it follows a confused teen and his attempts at suicide , in a charming , humorous way - believe it or not . When the film won , Hollywood and the world paid attention to LGBTQ people on screen in new ways . That short , sweet film led its creators to start the Trevor Lifeline , which has grown over the past 18 years to become The Trevor Project , a leader in suicide prevention and crisis intervention for LGBTQ youth . See how art and culture can change society , and actually save lives ! And we will talk about how the perspective on LGBTQ people is changing day-by-day , and how LGBTQ identities have evolved from the days when the film was created . When a Moment Becomes a Movement , Cumberland A / B / C In 2015 , Dana Marlowe never imagined she ’ d field interviews from Cosmopolitan or Newsweek or have a network ABC news reporter in her living room . As the founder of Support the Girls , a wildly successful charity that facilitates collecting bra and menstrual products to low income women in need across the globe , Dana explains how inspiration can strike in the strangest of places : a fitting room . To date , she and her 45 international affiliates have donated over 85,000 bras and 400,000 menstrual products to women in need , all while promoting messages of dignity , homelessness awareness , empathy , and of course , support . Funneling energy and enthusiasm , Dana turned her moment into a movement , and will use this session to inspire the same . An Israeli-Arab ’ s Journey to Israel Activism , Cumberland J Yahya Mahamed , a 19 year old Israeli-Arab from the City of Umm Al-Fahm , grew up in a society where he was taught hate towards the Jewish state . His education system included much misinformation about Israel and the Jewish people . Growing up in Israeli society , Yahya managed to break free of the stereotypes and prejudices he was taught as a boy – and a slow transformation of his perspective regarding Israel , minorities in the Israeli society and co-existence began . Today , Yahya is a brave young voice , speaking out for the Jewish state and against hatred . This is the story of his journey .
