#4 What would you tell others trying to love and support someone dealing with PTSD and recovering after trauma?

Remember that there are different issues with different personalities. Try to understand as best you can. Realize that you cannot fix the other person. Try to talk after stressful situations have passed—realizing that it is often really hard for us to explain what we are going through. And if there is a real communication issue, seek help from someone outside your relationship—that third party can really help, not only for validation, but also to get passed emotions.

#5 What would you tell others going through the recovery themselves?

The biggest thing is to check yourself—especially if you are taking pain medication or realizing you are using alcohol as a coping mechanism. Make sure you are in control and nothing else is becoming an addiction and taking over.

Also, find a way to get out and live life. Have an exit plan for crazy situations—and remember to concentrate on breathing when anxiety and tension get high. The breathing really helps me when I get tense/anxious—and I am in crowds all the time. So, find what works for you and realize that you can and will be in control of your PTSD issues—it doesn’t have to control you.

#6 What are you goals?

Reach more people—I don’t care if it’s a room with 10 people or 5,000 people or one-on-one with someone. I want to reach and inspire as many people as possible.

#7 How can people find out more information about you?

Bobbyhenline.com is a great place. USAA just did a piece for Veteran’s Day Week and check out “Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor” on Netflix.
