I’m inspired by all musicians! It’s a rea scary thing to put yourself out there, a as someone who has dealt with stag fright my whole career, I’m impressed anyone who’s brave enough to do it. a young girl I looked up to some of t successful female bass players -- K Deal, Kim Gordon, and I love the w Tina Weymouth plays. Later I learn about Carol Kaye, and she became a r inspiration as well. As far as dudes go, again, Mike W was my first bass influence. Dave Pit from Still Life was a big one too. As y can probably tell, my roots are more the punk/indie world than the clas rock bass heroes. In an industry dominated male musicians, do you fi that this hinders or helps yo opportunities? I’m not sure it’s helped or hindered. assume that people have asked me play because I’m a good bass play I’ve certainly encountered sexism, b not so much from the people I’ve play with. What is your opinion of the ima of female bassists in today’s mus industry? I know there are people who tend assume that I, and other female bassis don’t know how to play or are on playing bass because it’s easy, which insulting not only to women but to bassists!
