What made you decide to play bass?
I always tell people that ask, that the bass
choose me, I didn’t choose to play bass; I’m
so grateful I stuck with it over the years.
How/Where did you learn to play?
My father, Michi Robinson, is a musician and
he taught my two younger sisters and me how
to play an instrument. My sister, English, on
Keyboards, my sister, Chyna, on drums, and
me on bass, plus we all sing. I was about 7
and my sisters were 6 and 5 when our dad put
us in a group and called us ‘The GG’s,’ which
stands for God’s Grace. So all the credit goes
to my dad. Thanks daddy! I love you! ;-)
Who are your musical inspirations, both
male and female?
My dad is my biggest influence, since he taught
me everything I know; without him, I would
not be where I am today. I grew up listening
to a lot of old school funk. I am a groover so I
love Pino Palladino. Huge shout out to Queen
Cora Dunham (Author, Mentor, my big sister,
Drummer for Prince, Beyoncé). She was one
of the first female musicians that I met and has
such a big influence on my personal life and
my career. I never went to school, so I will also
like to thank those who continue to help me
grow as a musician; Yung Wurld, Kim Burse,
