Bass Musician Magazine - SPECIAL August 2014 Female Bassist Issue | Page 140
In an industry dominated by male
musicians, do you find that this
hinders or helps your opportunities?
It definitely helps when you want to meet
new people. Being a female, you get more
attention and you can always use that to
your advantage!
Do you feel, as a female bassist, that
you receive the professional respect
afforded male bassists?
You have to earn it either way! Being a
bassist is one of the most challenging jobs
in the band - being groovy, grounded and
sounding good.
What is your opinion of the image
of female bassists in today’s music
industry?
We are taking a huge step! I feel really happy
every time I run into other female bassists.
What is your advice on how to be
taken professionally in the music
industry?
If one is disciplined, patient, and passionate,
the path is usually rewarding.
What, if anything, would you do
to change the industry for female
bassists?
