Cutting a Centre Board or Dagger Board Slot
It is often suggested that you use a router to cut a smooth edged slot for the centre/dagger board.
It is hard to get a nice smooth slot with a saw or chisel; if it isn’t smooth the board can get scratched;
and it can be hard to seal – letting water in and leading to rot.
The trouble is that unless the hull bottom is flat the router will sit at an angle to the case sides.

So the challenge is to keep the router perpendicular to the centre/dagger board case.
