ITM 213 Accounting and Financial Management for Tourism Business (3 credits) This course provides the general background of accounting principles for the purpose of planning, decision making, and controlling the tourism business operations to achieve the highest benefits for organizations. The study includes accounting database, internal financial control for good governance, business financial analysis, general knowledge about capital, cost-benefit analysis, breakeven point analysis, budgeting for profit and investment planning, and general knowledge about taxes for profit and operation planning in tourism business. ITM 214 Sustainable Tourism (3 credits) Prerequisite: ITM 121 or Dean’s Approval This course explores the application of logistics knowledge in relating to cargo transportation and tourism products and services distribution, parcels and packages delivery, logistics insurance, logistics laws and regulations, demand responsive planning, information technology, and tourism proactive marketing strategy. ITM 322 Trends and Tourism Business Opportunities (3 credits) A study, analysis and discussion about trends and key issues in the tourism industry in order to explore the business opportunities, potential solutions, and strategies development to achieve the comparative advantages of tourism business. (3 credits) A study of the sustainable tourism concept is investigated including principles of sustainable tourism management, tourism planning and development regarding the economic, cultural, and environmental impact, roles of government and private sectors in sustainable tourism development. This course includes field trips. ITM 221 Logistics for Tourism Industry ITM 225 Tour Business Management and Operation (3 credits) ITM 411 Marketing for Tourism Industry (3 credits) ITM 412 Research for Tourism Industry (3 credits) Prerequisite: ITM 121 or Dean’s Approval This course explores the unique characteristics of tourism products with the purpose to apply the marketing principles to the tourism business including market analysis, marketing planning, marketing strategies, and various techniques of marketing promotions. Prerequisite: IST 203 or Dean’s Approval A study of the process and benefits of research in the tourism industry including research question selection, research design, sampling, research methodology, data collection tools, data analysis by statistical software along with research in finding presentations for business development.
