GENERAL INFORMATION
Bangkok University
One of the first and largest private universities in
Thailand, Bangkok University is a non-profit institution of higher
learning whose goal is to educate and develop students to their
highest potential in this competitive and fast-changing world.
Founded in 1962 by Mr. Surat and Mrs. Pongtip Osathanugrah,
with the mission to provide innovative academic and practical
studies in ways that will challenge the student’s all-around
abilities, the University remains committed to accomplishing
this mission as an institution of higher learning recognized
both nationally and internationally.
With a total enrollment of over 29,000 students, the
University includes 12 schools that offer academic programs
leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business
Administration, Communication Arts, Humanities and Tourism
Management, Law, Economics, Science and Technology, Fine
and Applied Arts, Engineering, Architecture, Entrepreneurship
and Management and Digital Media and Cinematic Arts.
Furthermore, a number of selected curricula have
been chosen to offer a bilingual learning program, which will
deliver a portion of its courses in English. The programs that
will be offering bilingual study include Marketing, Accounting,
International Business Management, Advertising, Broadcasting
and Airline Business Management.
In addition, the Graduate School offers programs of
study in thirteen major fields, namely Business Administration,
Business Administration in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises,
Communication Arts, Law, Information Technology and Management, Interior Architecture, Entertainment Management and
Production, Hospitality and Tourism Industry Management,
Entrepreneurship, Business Innovation, Finance, Digital
Marketing Communications, and Electrical and Computer
Engineering that lead to Master’s and Ph.D. degrees.
Campuses
The University has two campuses, the City Campus
(KluayNamThai), located on Rama 4 Road in the heart of
Bangkok, and the Rangsit Campus located 20 minutes to the
north of Bangkok in Pathum Thani Province.
The City Campus, home of the Graduate School and
most International Programs, is located at 119 Rama 4 Road,
Klong-Toei, Bangkok, 10110 (Thailand) and houses the original
University Library, the Learning Center, the Computer Center,
Faculty and Administrative Offices, as well as University-wide
student services. The Rangsit Campus is situated upon 445-rai
(one rai equals to 16 ares, or 0.16 hectares) of land at 9/1 Moo
5, Phaholyothin Road, Klong Nung, Klong Luang, Pathum Thani
12120 (Thailand).
International Relations
The University has good and long established relationships with international higher education institutions that lead
to mutual collaboration and support in academic and cultural
aspects. Examples are faculty and student exchange programs,
as well as reciprocal visits by executives. Exchange students
are eligible for a tuition fee waiver at participating institutions.
Additionally, Bangkok University was the first higher education
institution in Thailand to be invited to join the International
Association of University Presidents (IAUP), for which Founding
President Emeritus Dr. Charoen Kanthawongs and President
Emeritus Dr. Thanu Kulachol, have served as General Secretary
and Assistant General Secretary, respectively.
