Why I Didn ’ t Vote for Hillary

Before I get into my own political beliefs , I have to say that I don ’ t judge anyone else based on whom they voted for . If you voted for Hillary , because you agreed with her policies and stuff , that ’ s awesome ! I ’ m happy that you had a candidate that you believed in . If you voted for Trump , because you thought he could change things in this country for the better , that ’ s great , too . One of the best things about this country is the fact that we have the freedom to vote as we wish . We are more than our votes , and we shouldn ’ t hold those votes against each other .
I need to get something off my chest . My name is Cassie , and I ’ m a giant , raging feminist who didn ’ t vote for Hillary . Throughout the whole election , many 47 people said you can ’ t be a feminist and not vote for Hillary . They claimed that if you didn ’ t , you were either a self-hating woman , or you didn ’ t want to support other women . Some went so far as to state that you must be against equal rights for women . Those people could not be more wrong .
When the election started , I fell in love with Bernie Sanders . He started fighting for equal rights during the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s . He wanted to make higher education a right instead of a privilege . Grandpa Bernie was , and continues to be , a political activist with extensive experience in government . I ’ m still devastated that he won ’ t be our president for the next 4 years .
While many understood and also felt the Bern , there were many others who called me a traitor to my gender . Why wouldn ’ t I want to vote for a fellow woman , especially one with so much experience ? Didn ’ t I want to see a woman succeed ?
Of course I would love to see a woman president ; however , I do not think Hillary is the woman for the job . In my opinion , she failed as Secretary of State . Her blatant pandering disturbed me . Did she really expect us to believe that , like Queen Bey , she carries hot sauce in her purse ? I also didn ’ t like her connections to Wall Street . Finally , I felt that she had too many controversies surrounding her name , especially after what happened at the DNC .
