Let ’ s talk about love baby ... no wait let ’ s talk about relationships !
When I ponder the word relationship , the first thing that comes to mind is a spouse or a significant other . That one person who is attached to you in a deeper way than literally any other living soul . A lover .
However , the world relationship is so much deeper than that . It ’ s the phone call from a family member , it ’ s a snuggle from a sick child , it ’ s a late night talk with a best friend . It ’ s sneaking off early for a bath and getting to know yourself and embracing a positive self-care routine . Relationships can literally change your life , bring your comfort and totally stress you out . These are the traditional relationships that we float through life focused on , but sometimes we leave one big piece out . Your business relationship .
Your business is full of people . People are what make up a business . We are literally in the business of people . When was the last time you cultivated those relationships ? But even greater than that ... when was the last time you embraced having a relationship with others in business ? When was the last time you focused on embracing collaborations over your competition ?
I get it , we all see those business owners with their perfectly curated desks , big pay checks and you are struggling to sign your first client or make your first $ 100 . You instantly get pained and start looking at your dirty syrup covered kitchen table and empty paypal . You couldn ’ t even possibly embrace these people as your collaborators . As someone who you could bounce ideas off and go to for help . A true business friend .
But here ’ s the truth . Everyone started somewhere . Not one single boss ever was just handed that gold pen and the cash started flowing . NOT ONE ! Don ’ t get caught up focusing on something you want and forget to embrace what you have .
Start cultivating relationships with others who do and work in your same sphere . Reach out to collaborators and stop being …. jealous . You are only hindering your own growth . We rise higher when we all learn to work together .
I couldn ’ t sit here and type this without the vast support network that stands beside me . To business friends who sit up with you til 2am working through a tech problem . To the now business partner who first listened to me when this magazine was just an idea . To the team of people who help my own business flow . We are not meant to be solopreneurs . We are meant to be a network of business professionals who cultivate and grow our relationships with each other .
Stop trying to do it all alone and make business relationships a top priority . Think of it as online dating for your business . Find those who you really resonate with and find a way to collaborate together . Find someone you can pm when the ship starts sinking . Find an entire group to party with you reach that first or 100th goal . Sip champagne together over the bad days and the glorious ones .
Open your world to adding a few more people to your collective whole . Give yourself permission to love outside of your comfort zone . You know the saying your vibe attracts your tribe ? Find that tribe and hold on tight because it ’ s going to be an amazing ride .
