Healthy is the new Wealthy is my new mantra ! Why am I so excited that in my mid-50 ’ s I am ecstatic about wellness through fitness and nutrition ? Easy answer : I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up ! I am a Health Coach - what better way to share my passion than to share my own transformation story .

I want to share that through my trials and tribulations , I have fought a long and hard battle to gain a sense of my wellness . It has not been easy , in fact it really changed my life in more ways than I could have anticipated . I am here to tell you that at any age , a sense of wellness is possible . I know there are many women who for no reason other than life is full of surprises , some good , some bad , fall into the same trap as I did .
We all seem to take care of others before we take care of ourselves and I am here to tell you it is time to put your health and wellness in the forefront . It can ’ t and should not be ignored ! Somehow though , it is ignored and the old saying of if you think you don ’ t have time for wellness just try illness takes on a whole new meaning . How do we start ? Where do we start ?
For me , I was in my mid-40 ’ s when my transformation began . I had been in ( 2 ) bad car accidents , was in a lot of pain and my best medicine was food and not good food . I ate for comfort and when I thought no one was listening or watching , I found comfort in how eating made me feel - chips , cookies , ice cream - to name a few . I can ’ t even go down the potato chip aisle in the grocery store without getting almost nauseous .
I was what you call a super-size gal . I had just bought a Size 22 because a Size 20 was getting just a little too snug . I even had a few dresses that were maternity dresses - yes I admit it - I was wearing maternity dresses in my mid-40 ’ s ! About a month later , the couple of Size 22 dresses I had bought were getting tight on me .
The next day , I threw my back out and had a visit with my doctor . I was in absolute agony with my back pain , I felt horrible , sluggish , tired , okay a little irritable too - I remember saying to my doctor I am tired of being sick and tired . We had a great conversation and I remember his gentle nature and we sat down and he said , you will always have your injuries from your accident but maybe if you started to lose a little weight , you might feel a little better .
