If one more person tells me how lucky I am to have such a great job , a great husband , such great kids , my health , etc … etc … I am going to scream !

Let ’ s get one thing straight ! There is no such thing as luck ! Do you know why I have a great job ? It ’ s because I studied my ass off in high school , college , and graduate school . Then , I sought out internships that allowed me to make valuable connections to land that great job when I was out of school .
As for my husband , I didn ’ t get lucky ; I was fastidious when it came to whom I chose to surround myself with . I wasn ’ t out at 2AM hanging at the bar looking for a “ forever ” companion . I surrounded myself with intelligent , hard-working , and like-minded people who were supportive of all of my crazy hobbies and interests . That is when I met my husband .
I must be so lucky to have great kids , right ? Let ’ s talk candidly . My kids can be hellacious monsters sometimes , but they know my love is unconditional . Kids are direct products of the environment in which they are raised , so if you want “ great ” kids , be a good role model , talk to them , spend time with them , make them a priority in your life , and show your love for them ! It ’ s not luck !
Finally , you must be lucky to have your health ! Being lucky and being healthy are NOT related ! First of all , I schedule at least 1 hour of fitness into my daily routine and attempt to plan ahead when it comes to meals . Staying healthy is about being proactive , not reactive ! ( In fact , five-years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and I don ’ t consider it unlucky . I consider it annoying . I take medicine when I need it and appreciate every day that my body can move !)
So , the next time someone tells you that you are lucky , think about the life that YOU have created for yourself and PROUDLY say , “ There is no such thing as luck !” apple
