Headteacher ’ s Column

Volunteers Needed !

Outdoor Learning Parents will know that one of my key priorities since coming to the school has been to build outdoor activities into the learning experience of all our young people . Last June I expanded the scope of our PE Department and created the post of Principal Teacher PE and Outdoor Learning . Since then we have been working hard on this development and I am very pleased to announce that we have recently advertised for an Outdoor Learning Instructor to be with us two days a week . This additional staffing should allow us to move forward rapidly in fulfilling our outdoor learning plans for this session and beyond . However , in order to maximise our efforts , we would like the active support of parents in accompanying groups on activities . If this is an area that you feel you could help with ( no qualifications necessarily required ) please contact Mr Douglas , our PT PE and Outdoor Learning . With your support , we can take significant strides towards making our vision for outdoor learning into a reality .

Parental Focus Groups You may recall that I mentioned in a previous newsletter my intention of convening some parental focus groups to look at particular aspects of the school ’ s work . Before summer I intend to convene a group to look at curriculum and qualifications in the secondary . If you would be interested in being involved in such a group , please do get in touch .
