by the College include Radiation Safety, Domestic Gas Installation, Personal Licence Holder,
Elementary Food Hygiene, Portable Appliance Testing and First Aid at Work. In addition to
continuing with courses that generate consistent demand, there are new opportunities for 2014-17.
For example, the opening of the College’s Composites Materials Centre of Excellence in 2014, and
the investment the College has made in the Mazak Machining Centre for CNC programming, offer
significant opportunities for delivering bespoke courses important to a range of industries.

educational components of apprenticeships for a range of trade sector bodies such as CITB,
SNIPEF and SECTT. In addition to short courses and apprenticeship support, the College delivers
a range of work-based Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) on a commercial basis. These are
aimed at people in work who require the SVQ to carry out their jobs. These SVQs are delivered
predominantly in the health and social care, hospitality, hairdressing, engineering and automotive
sectors. Closer engagement with employers across Ayrshire offers the College an opportunity for
growth in this area.
