Volkswagen begins assembly of vehicles in Kenya with the Polo

Volkswagen Global , the German government and DT Dobie Kenya took the big gamble and decided to be the first to assemble Volkswagen passenger vehicles for the entry-level buyer . The multi-million dollar deal with the Kenyan Government includes the set up an assembly facility at Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers ( KVM ) in Thika . Volkswagen will also set up a training academy to train and empower youth who will be directly involved in the project . This deal shows investor confidence in the country as a suitable destination for foreign direct investment . The Polo Vivo hatchback rolled off of the assembly line on December 21st in the presence of His Excellency president Uhuru Kenyatta and witnessed by officials from Volkswagen Headquarters and the Automobile Association of Kenya board members . There are plans to build models including the Amarok , Tiguan and Passat in play . Autonews will keep you updated .
