Happy New Year to all our Club Members !

We are excited to revive this platform which we created to engage with our members and motoring enthusiasts globally . AutoNews aims to share relevant local and international information to both safeguard and capture the attention of our readers . As a premier motoring Club with international affiliation , the AA ’ s strategic objective for the next five years is to create value for members . We have prioritized membership as the reason for our existence and this has driven our teams to repackage our products and services as well as leverage our international affiliations to benchmark best practices and modelling our service offering . We will share these new products and services in due course . We can assure you that they have been redesigned for ultimate convenience and delivery of full value for your membership . With regards to international affiliation , we are working closely with Federation Internationale de l ’ Automobile ( FIA ) which brings together 238 national motoring and sporting organizations from 143 countries in five continents representing millions of motorists and their families , to champion the road safety agenda in Kenya by engaging our members through carefully packaged programmes . One major initiative that we have set in motion is the 2019 Safari Rally which is designed by FIA , managed by Kenya Motor Sports in partnership with AA Kenya . AA has a long history with rallying and the Kenya Club is excited to be on board the 2019 FIA Road Safety partner . We appreciate your continued support and are committed to bringing you the best content . We encourage you to own this platform by sharing with us your feedback , insights and ideas . Together we are a formidable team .

THE EDITOR

Its time we all to take on road safety agenda

The influence of the media cannot be underestimated , especially in an era of social media and the internet . One of our roles is to change and influence people to improve their lives . The Automobile Association of Kenya , through this publication , will bring information to its members that will both entertain and educate . We shall feature articles that will give you a better understanding of how your vehicle operates . This

information we hope , will improve the relationship between vehicles and drivers to reduce preventable death and injury on our roads .
It saddens all of us to learn that we lost 2,965 Kenyans in 2016 . These were onthe-spot fatalities but what does not make it into the prime news in mainstream media is those deaths and injuries that occur later . Last year alone , 4,661 people were seriously injured and many possibly passed away later . An additonal 5,533
were slightly injured . When I compare this to Sweden , where less than 300 die annually on the road , I believe that we , as members , can to be part of the solution , starting today . For this I welcome your contribution on the subject .
In this issue I have assembled a cocktail of short pieces from Kenya and around the world . Be sure to go to the reviews section where Trevor test drives the latest and awesome Jaguar , the F-Pace . I sample
the outgoing VW CC that intends to communicate one ’ s unique sense of style . Because Kenya is redominantly a used car market we bring you a brief comparison between two popular softroaders , the Subaru Forester and Honda CR-V . We hope you will enjoy this inaugural issue and request your honest feedback on how we can make it better .
