Mt. San Antonio Captures First Annual CCCAA Wrestling Dual Team State Championship During the 2013 season.
Sierra College: Last season, the Sierra wrestling team finished fourth in the North Regional tournament and 11th in the state tournament. Coach Ken Wharry, who begins his seven season as the head coach, is expecting big things from his four returning state qualifiers and returning members.
Those state qualifiers were; Joey Vigil (South Bakersfield H.S) 125 pounds, Oscar Flores (Cosumnes Oaks H.S) 174 pounds, Keith Wenger (Bear River H.S) 184 pounds and Jordan Davis (Cordova H.S) 197 pounds. All of them were a match away from placing in the state tournament.
Returning members from the 2013 season are; O’Che Armstrong (Center H.S) 165 pounds, Yianni Athens (Oakmont H.S) 133 pounds, James De Leon (McQueen H.S, Nevada) 125/133 pounds, Dakota Fierro (Antelope H.S) 141 pounds, Christian Giovannie (Liberty Ranch H.S) 165 pounds, Michael Gomez (Lincoln H.S) 149 pounds, Oscar Hernandez (Galt H.S) 157 pounds, Rene Iaccopucci (Natomas H.S) 197 pounds, Shawn Keefe (Rocklin H.S) 165 pounds, Vlad Lutsik (Antelope H.S) 174 pounds, Jose Martinez (Casa Roble H.S) 157 pounds, Hunter Morrison (W.C Wood H.S) 113 pounds, Brendan Packheiser (Placer H.S) 165 pounds, Reed Smith (Del Campo H.S) 184 pounds, Andrew Tyson (Rocklin H.S) 165 pounds and, Christopher Votino (Del Oro H.S) 157 pounds.
