Sarah Darling - Dream Country

The debut UK album, set to be released 10th February, follows on from success breaking out into the US Country music scene and touring across the UK. The Nashville artist has found a love for the English audience after performing at London's C2C Festival and then returning for her own sold out tour. The album is described as taking "the listener on a journey through aspiration, cinematic songs about stars, romances and dreams in Sarah's escapist style which crosses country, Americana, jazz and contemporary pop."

Sarah explains the ideas behind the album. 'Wandering Star' is based on the unknown future, "some of the greatest moments in my life have happened when I least expected them." Whilst 'Halley's Comet' brings us some faith and says that the world is "just like Halley's Comet, she comes back around shining bright even when she goes away for a while. We are all forces to be reckoned with, you just have to believe you will have your time." Off the stage, Sarah enjoys being creative with her own collection of boots together with Durango as well as having a French macaron brand 'Sweet Darling Patisserie'!

A soft, velvet smooth feel coats the entire album packaging. The artist and title glisten in gold embossed text just above her demure self. The cream lace dress almost disappearing into the background. From this alone, I get a sense that the music will be just as pretty and delicate. Opening the cover, you shall find more pretty detailing. To the left, stars fall with her words "thank you for being the stars in my sky." To the right, we glimpse at the CD along with another quote. The CD itself has the visuals of constellations in the night's sky. The insert is another delight to the imagination. It unfolds to reveal two sides. The first with each track and a small description matched with a fitting star constellation all against the night sky of Paris. And the other side reveals a huge stargazers scope of the "notable stars" for the album project. The silver details are raised also and give another treat to your senses. The entire physical album is work of art, this can only mean the songs will be equally pleasing with a lot of thought to every element.

Easing into 'Wandering Star', you're whisked into a luscious wave of deep, emotive sensations. Sarah's soft voice is ever so pretty and versatile taking you through every story and feeling she has within her. There is wonderful blend with soul derived from a root of the country style that keeps attracting you throughout the album, not staying samey but bringing new attitudes to each song. A few of my favourites include the spunky 'Tell That Devil' and heartfelt 'Halley's Comet'.
