Blacklock Takes Stock Eppleton Cricket Club First XI and Durham Junior Scorer Sam Blacklock has recently returned home from a trip to Dubai, where he was scoring in the under 19s and under 15s Arch Trophy. The tournament provides an opportunity for school teams from all over England and the United Arab Emirates to compete for the cup. Blacklock said: ‘I was delighted when I was asked to score in Dubai for the 2016 Arch Trophy, as it was going to be a new experience for me to travel to another country and score, especially due to the fact the weather is completely different to England. ‘Scoring at grounds in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ajmal was a unique and amazing experience, in which I saw an outstanding level of cricket. There were definitely some players featuring in the competition with great potential. I will be looking out for their names in the future. I also met some fantastic officials from across the UK and Channel Islands, and from various points of the globe: Washington (USA), Australia and Tasmania. It was a good experience for me to communicate with a variety of other cricket officials. ‘I also worked alongside Sue Jones (ECB ACO National Scorers’ Officer) for the under 19s final between Eastbourne School and Zayad Academy. This was a very beneficial experience for me as it not only gave me the opportunity to score with a highly qualified scorer who has scored all over the place, but it also enabled me to pick up a variety of new techniques and skills which I was not aware of and wouldn’t normally incorporate into my scoring. Hopefully the trip will enable me to progress and score more advanced games in the future, as I enjoy scoring very much and am looking forward to the coming season.’ email us at [email protected] contact us on 0121 446 2710 31
