ASSOCIATIONS HAVE THEIR QUESTIONS ON
TECHNOLOGY ANSWERED
BY ANCA URDEA
July’s Technology for Associations Congress, 3rd event in the series,
had 188 delegates, of which 114 were associations; the event was held
at the Hilton London Metropole in London. With an impressive line-up
of speakers and exhibitors sharing their knowledge on all event tech,
CRM and eLearning to mention just a few topics, the congress became
a temporary hub for tech specialists and enthusiasts working in or
with associations.
The programme was spread over two days and organised
in five streams and eight learning labs. Here’s a taste of
the event; read on and make sure to watch the session
recordings!
Programme highlights
On the first day, we’ve looked at how to engage with
audiences at a range of events, from training and
assessment programmes, to launches and roadshows,
stakeholder engagements to corporate celebrations, all
using event technology.
Alastair Stewart, Secretariat of the UK Magnetics Society
chaired the stream on data & CRM, member engagement
and marketing. We looked at ways for analysing the
traffic and conversions on your site and how to use this
information to plan your website content and improve
the user journey and experience. Packed with practical
and easy to implement advice, speakers like Becky Reid,
Marketing Manager at Fire Industry Association and
John Scarrott, Membership Director of Design Business
Association, shared their tactics for creating better website
content and engaging their associations’ members.
Chaired by Theodore Spyrou, Former Chief Executive of
Helplines Partnership, event communities were brought
center-stage with talks on how to maximise the delegate
experience by engaging them not just during the events,
but also before and after, with targeted messages and
content not only to drive registrations, but also to build
conversation and engagement.
Also, we discussed how to extend the conversation onto
social media, engaging virtual attendees and non-attendees
alike; how to augment and preserve the live experience and
to produce real-time stats to monitor traction and learn to
apply in the future only what works best for your audience.
